UNDP and GoTL is improving access to water for people in El-Niño effected areas

27 January, Bobonaro – Around 1000 people in Daudo village, Bobonaro can now access clean water close to their homes. This is made possible due to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) El Niño project, that supported the construction of this climate resilient water infrastructure.

UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Interior (MoI) launched the construction of climate resilient water infrastructure for community in Daudo, Cailaco, Bobonaro municipality in October 2016, after Government’s Assessments had shown the significant impact of El Niño on the water access conditions in this area.

The newly constructed water supply system not only improves the water availability but also the water use management system of the Suco, as it was constructed through community engagement under the joint supervision of district engineers of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication and of UNDP’s Rural Infrastructure Engineers.
